A new singles site just for boomers

Your Time Singles has recently launched.  In an email to us, they stated:

"Our goal is to help Mature Singles connect with others of like interest to meet new friends, activity partners, travel companions or even to find romance."

They join a number of other sites targeting boomers and right now, membership is free.  So if more than just spring is in the air for you, check them out.

You may be a boomer but are you hot?

Hotenough_2
The site I'm about to tell you about is not for everyone.  It's called Hotenough.org and membership seems to be fairly exclusive:

"If you're finding that you're not short of dates, but your dates are just coming up short, then you've come to the right place.

Unlike other dating sites, HotEnough is not so much about looks but about "A LOOK". Attractive, fit, and trendy are just a few of the descriptions HotEnough elites have to offer and all to accomodate your personal flare and style.

Through our screening process, we have filtered the masses leaving only your area's most attractve, fit, trendy singles and have now included an exclusive section for our 40+ singles, the "BABY BOOMER SECTION". HotEnough offers three tiers of hotties, so if you're fit and trendy, then rest assured there is a place for you."

Well, at least they recognize that boomers can be hot.  OK readers, who of you is hot (and in fairness to everyone, single)?  Get on over there and join up.  But be warned, your photos (you must submit 3, 1 being a full body shot) are voted on by other boomer members before you are accepted and then you must a maintain a minimum rating or you are out.   If your self esteem is a little fragile, I wouldn't suggest trying out.

Single Parent Love Life dating site targets growing niche

It's a well known fact that at least 50% of marriages end in divorce.  Many of these marriages produce children so that means there are a lot of people out there who are single parents.  While attention to their children will always be of primary importance to single parents, it doesn't mean that their love life has to be over.  Of course, the problem may be that a potential dating partner may not be interested in dating someone who has children.  As a result, many single parents may feel they are "out of the game" for a while.  This can be even more frustrating for older parents who are in their 40s or 50s as they also feel their age can be a hindrance.

Enter Singleparentlovelife.com (SPLL), a dating site for single parents.  I talked with their CEO Mitch Solway from Toronto last week.  Mitch has been in the online dating business for over 10 years, so he knows this industry very well and after looking at all the niches, he decided to take on this one and I think it's going to be a winner.

Mitch said that "the internet has its highest value when it delivers an experience."  I agree and meeting new people to date has to be one of the more interesting experiences in life. He told me that 1 out of every 4 singles is a parent so that's a significant niche SPLL is  aiming at.

Most dating sites are heavily skewed male to female  so Mitch wanted  to  design a site that  women would feel comfortable with and I believe he has succeeded.   Their home page  has that  clean, simple, yet inviting design  I always look for the first time I land on a new site (only critique-put on text enlarger options for those of us with older eyes).  What I think is great is that you can actually browse through the members to get an idea of what kind of people are members.  Mitch told me their average age is 37, 40% have never tried online dating, and most are professionals with above average incomes.  The cost is a very reasonable $12 per month and there is no hard sell evident like there is on many dating sites.  Of course, you need to pay the monthly fee if you want to contact anyone on the site.

The site started charging in Dec 2006 and already has 7,000 members the majority of which are in the greater Toronto area although there are lots of other members across Canada and the US.  Mitch said the US market is the next big roll out after they advertise the site to the rest of Canada which they are in the process of doing currently.

So if you are a single parent looking for a love connection, why not click on the graphic below and give SPLL a try.

Another boomer/senior dating site

Young Many dating websites are beginning to realize the huge market for older singles and are opening up their memberships to target the 40+ group and this seems to be another one that is part of an established dating site.

55 Alive Dating Website

55pl_2 Here's another one.  This seems to be a cross between a dating and an online web community but a little too commercial for me.  All these boomer dating sites are giving the youngsters hope that there may be life after 50.  They don't know the half of it do they? Link_button_copy

Is online dating becoming the boomer generation's internet killer app?

Couple

We posted an article earlier this week about the newest 45+ dating site, lavalife prime had launched.  In February we posted about a site called Singles over 50.  The main difference between these 2 sites is that the minimum age you can search for on lavalife is 40 but the other is 18.  I guess that is the one my friend who is looking for a younger woman should use.

These have been  2 of the most linked to and from articles on my site, so I think perhaps that boomers are very much into online dating, or at least very interested in seeing what it's all about.  I must have seen at least 10 posts about it around the blogosphere the last couple of days and most of those weren't boomer oriented sites.

The major Canadian national newspaper the Globe and Mail has written an article about it calling midlifers the fastest growing segment of the online dating world.  I have one friend who swore she would never use an online dating site but now is re-thinking her position.  If she ever signs up, I'll know that this has become the boomer's killer app.

Another new boomer+ dating site

LavalI start this post with a disclaimer.  I am not being paid to post this, as a matter of fact, I doubt the site I'm about to discuss has any knowledge of The Savvy Boomer.  I have never accepted any money to post anything on this site.

A few of my boomer single friends and associates have used online dating sites recently and some have entered serious relationships as a result.  I had dinner with friends last weekend and one of them is a professional man approaching 50 looking for a lady, but when I suggested internet dating, he wasn't real enthusiastic since most of them are targeted at the under 40 crowd.  Well, I hope he's reading this post because one of the heavyweights in the game has recognized the boomer/senior market with the beta launch of lavalife prime  and while it's still in beta, it's free.

They say it is for 45+ so perhaps my friend won't be real interested because while he is in that age group, he is looking in the 35-45 range.  Maybe they need to target this group of guys with another site called "mid life crisis" and target it for men  40+ who want a younger woman and the women who sign up there realize that.  Or perhaps a site called "Cougar life" for women in the same age group looking for younger guys.  OK, now that I have pissed everyone off, I'll say no more on that topic.

Will they make a go if it?  I'd bet on them because about 5 % of my traffic comes from search engines with the keywords like "boomer online dating" and end up here I guess because of my post on another dating site.  For those looking-"Good luck," no, that's not sarcastic, I really do wish you well.
