“This package has the Tapestry album, and what we’re calling Live Tapestry, selections taken from concerts at Boston, Maryland, Central Park, and San Francisco, 1973 to 1976, just piano-vocal – that’s the way I heard the songs for the first time when Carole would come to the office and play them… Those songs are alive with just piano-vocal. Within that piano, you’ll hear vocal lines, string line, bass line, maybe a guitar solo line. That’s the way she played and that’s what her demos were, and that’s the way I heard the songs for the very first time.”
– Lou Adler, producer
In addition to the two CDs, TAPESTRY: LEGACY EDITION will contain a full-color booklet embellished with unpublished photography that documents the original 1971 album recording sessions at A&M Studios in Los Angeles
.
At the 14th annual Grammy Awards ceremonies in March 1972, Carole King became the first woman to win the “grand slam” – Record Of the Year (“It’s Too Late”), Album Of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal (both for Tapestry), and Song Of the Year (James Taylor’s version of “You’ve Got a Friend,” for which he won Best Male Pop Vocal). It was a Grammy landmark untouched until Alanis Morissette (1995), plus, Quincy Jones won Best Pop Instrumental for his Smackwater Jack album (A&M).
When asked
to comment about the impact of Tapestry, Carole King said, “I
feel honored that Tapestry has made a difference in small ways and large ways in
people's lives around the world. It’s been a major part of my life, too,”
she adds. “As a songwriter, I’m so happy that the songs have held up for
all of these years. As a performer, I’m still enjoying playing them live,
most recently on my Living Room Tour.”

Tapestry perfectly illustrates the genius of King in composition, piano, and an emotive singing style that considers every word. Many have copied or referred to her, but none has duplicated the magic she weaves with this album.

I've loved Tapestry since I was a young teenager. It's an album I return to over and over again. Wonderful songs delivered perfectly by Carole--her voice, her piano, the arrangements. A true classic.

I have always loved Carole King and hope I can win this incredible album.
Thank you.

Tapestry is one of the rare musical events that trascends time and geography. Like Carole said one time, it seems that some of the songs "were written through me, not by me".
It would be great to earn this CD with recordings not previouly available.
Finally, I hope this new edition reminds some people how much Carole (along with Carly Simon) deserves to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame.
Thank you for this opportunity.

Even if I'm only 16, I love Carole King and her music always helps me...her songs are able to make me smile even when I'm going through sad periods and they give me the strenght to do everything...I'd like to thank her for that and I hope to become a songwriter too someday...
I'm Italian and I'd like to win a copy of the new cd because I love her music but unfortunately it's difficult to find her albums here in Italy...Thank you anyway =)

I still have my Tapestry LP that's in great condition, but a CD sure would be nice. I always felt she was far under-appreciated as a singer and often overshadowed by the popular artists singing her compositions.

Carole is so cool. I lost my copy of Tapestry years ago so think it's only fitting that I win this.

Tapestry brings me back to my roots...my beginnings of maturing into a woman and savoring the lyrics of Carole's songs. I think I wore the original tape I have out. I would love to own this release!

Carole's music is the score to my life as a young woman. Her words gave me strength and pride in being a woman.
