Flying is not the enjoyable experience it once was-not even close. I fly a lot and now I tend to try and put myself in a trance from the time I arrive at my departure airport until the time I leave the arrival airport, to deal with all the BS of lines, security, rude people, small seats, terrible or no service etc etc.
But there are some things I try to do to relieve the stress. The Ririan project has listed many of these and more. The one extra I will add is always dress well and ask if there is any possibility of an upgrade to business class. If economy is full and business has some seats, they will upgrade passengers if they have standby for economy. It doesn't happen often but when it does, they upgrade their frequent flyers first but the decisions are very arbitrary and subjective at times, so a friendly demeanor and a smart look are always helpful. Even if it is 1 in 6 or 7 which is my hit rate, it's worth it. The worst they can say is "NO!"
